Pakistan ‘s shifting power

In this post as Azadnevis (Freelancer) accepts guest writer in his blog, I am going to open an argument about Pakistan's political situation right now and what's happening there. You may ask why Pakistan? I say some very interesting political lobbing is happening between enemies in Pakistan but surprisingly the main stream media have not had enough coverage about it.

The story started on 27th of July when Benazir Bhutto the former prime minister met General Pervez Musharraf in Abu Dhabi who has become Mr. Pervez Musharraf as a part of their agreement. The agreements are as follow: Mr. Musharraf should resign from his position as head of Army then he can run for the presidential election as president without his army uniform also will drop the charges against Benazir Bhutto and her husband for a series of money scandal.

Instead Benazir Bhutto will back to the country after 8 years living in self-exile in Dubai and London and useing her power as pro western moderate Shia to deal with Islamic radical groups who may have access to the nuclear bomb after 1972 when Pakistan made the first nuclear bomb as the first Muslim country. This controversial meeting did not make much noise in the media as it was kept very secret especially from Musharraf side. Also she promised that she will hand in AQ khan the father of cheap nuclear bomb to the World.

The first part of agreement had been met when Pervez Musharraf won a controversial election as president of Pakistan with significant majority of votes (252 out of 257 votes by national and provincial parliaments that were mostly boycotted by the oppositions). However, Musharraf must wait until to get his presidency term approved by head of justice who Mr. Musharraf has attempted to fire him on 17 of july, 2007 and brought the lawyers to the streets of Islam Abad protesting against Musharraf‘s decision.

Right now the current government is trying to be more moderate and reasonable with people in order to legitimize more the scary and aggressive Musharraf presidency period. But things are not going very well after Ms Bhutto’s return to Pakistan.

Last Thursday, 18th of October, Benazir Bhutto landed in Karachi after 8 years living self-exile and had been treated like heroine across the country. However, the Celebration has been ruined with a car’s bomb explosion which killed more than 130 people including women and children. Several groups are suspicious for have being responsible for the bombing but Benazir Bhutto is more addressing militaries than radical Muslims.

I will not conclude my essay as we are going to debate for its conclusion about how this story is going to end and its possible effects on Iran and the other regional countries.

Please put your few lines as comments for this post.
